Bring Your Own Cloud storage
With Server Backup - Public Cloud: Bring Your Own Cloud, you can back up servers to Amazon S3 storage in your own Amazon Web Services (AWS) account in any region in the aws partition.
If you manage Server Backup for multiple customers, you can add multiple Amazon S3 storage buckets for Server Backup data and choose a backup storage location for each customer. You can also choose the Server Backup product type for each customer: either Bring Your Own Cloud or OpenText Hosted Cloud.
Note: At this time, OpenText Hosted Cloud storage is only available for customers who manage products using Secure Cloud.
Benefits of using your own cloud storage include:
-
Increased control over your storage locations, policies, and integrations.
-
Ease of meeting compliance obligations, including data residency requirements.
Billing for Bring Your Own Cloud customers
Customers who back up servers to their own cloud storage are billed for the number of servers that they protect.
Customers must pay their cloud provider directly for all costs associated with the account where they back up and recover servers. Costs for the Amazon Web Services (AWS) account can include storage, API usage, and data-egress fees. During a 30-day Server Backup trial, all Server Backup functionality is available at no charge, but you are responsible for any costs incurred in AWS.
