Deploying Web Security Service to Users

There are two ways Web Security Service (WSS) can be deployed to Users:

• Using the Desktop Web Proxy (DWP) Agent
• Manually Configuring Browser Settings

Desktop Web Proxy (DWP) Agent

This is the preferred method of deployment and involves the deployment of a small agent. This agent has many benefits:

• Auto User Creation — This is enabled by default and will result in user accounts being created automatically as users access the service from your IPs.
• Seamless Login for Users — DWP stores the created credentials in the logged in user’s registry settings, enabling one computer to be shared and the proper policy applied
• Automatic Browser Configuration — DWP will force our proxy settings onto all browsers and can be used to lock user’s ability to modify.
  • The .MSI can be downloaded from the resources tab in the Management Console, under Downloads.
  • This MSI can then be used to install DWP to individual computers or across your network, using the tools in place to group deploy software.

Manually Configuring Browser Settings

If circumstances do not allow the admin to use DWP, you can manually configure the proxy settings in the various browsers. These are generally located in the network options and you should enter the following information:
