Getting started in the Management Console
If you manage products using the Management Console, you can start a free Server Backup - Public Cloud trial or subscription for a site in the console, or contact your Webroot Sales representative to start a trial or subscription. You can only start a Server Backup subscription for a site if its Management Console has an active Server Backup subscription.
One type of Server Backup - Public Cloud product is available in the Management Console:
-
Bring Your Own Cloud, where you back up servers to storage in your own Amazon Web Services (AWS) account. For more information, see Bring Your Own Cloud storage.
Before backing up servers to your own cloud storage, you must set up the storage. If Server Backup storage is not set up in the console, a message banner prompts you to set it up. See Setting up Server Backup storage.
Note: At this time, OpenText Hosted Cloud storage is only available for customers who manage products using Secure Cloud.
Note: If you do not have access to the Management Console, you can gain access by starting a free Endpoint Protection trial or purchasing a subscription from the OpenText Cybersecurity website: https://cybersecurity.opentext.com/products/threat-detection/endpoint-protection/
After storage is set up in the console, you must do the following for each site that will use Server Backup:
-
Turn on Server Backup.
-
Choose a storage location for the backup data. You cannot change the storage location for a site after it is selected.
-
Choose a Server Backup policy for agents. A policy provides settings for Server Backup agents, including a schedule for backing up data and retention settings that specify how long to keep each backup.
Note: To provide different settings for a specific agent, you can assign a different policy to the device where the agent is installed. This is useful, for example, if you want the agent to back up data at a different time than other agents in its site. See Changing a device's Server Backup policy.
If you use Managed Service Provider (MSP) view in the Management Console, you can set up Server Backup separately for each site in the console. See Getting started with Server Backup in MSP view.
If you use Business view in the Management Console to manage one site, see Getting started with Server Backup in Business view.
IMPORTANT: If a trial ends without being upgraded to a subscription, or a subscription is not renewed, the customer's backup data will be automatically deleted after a grace period. For more information, see Data deletion after a trial or subscription ends or a site is deactivated.
